WHAT IS WORD PROCESSING?
Word Processing means to use computer technology to create, edit, and print text – based documents. It is used for communicating text – based documents such as Letter, Reports, Memos, Manuscripts and other official documents.

ADVANTAGES OF WORD PROCESSING OVER TYPEWRITER
Ø     Changes can be made without retyping the whole document.
Ø     Mistakes can be corrected by taking cursor back and correct the mistake.
Ø     A paragraph can be deleted without leaving a trace.
Ø     It is easy to insert a word, sentence, or paragraph in the middle of a document.

Ø     This is software package that enables you to create a document.

FEATURES OF WORD PROCESSOR
Ø     INSERT TEXT: It allows you to insert text anywhere in the document.
Ø     DELETE TEXT: It allows you to erase characters, words, lines, or pages.
Ø     CUT, COPY AND PASTE: It allows you to remove (cut) or duplicate (copy) a section of text from one place in a document and insert (paste) it somewhere else.
Ø     SEARCH AND REPLACE: It allows you to search for a particular word or phrase in your document.
Ø     WORD WRAP: It automatically moves the insertion point to the next line once the current line is full.
Ø     HEADERS, FOOTERS AND PAGES: It allows you to specify customized header (common text that is printed at the top of every page) and footer (common text that is printed at the bottom of every page). The word processor automatically keeps track of page numbers so that the correct number appears on each page.
Ø     SPELL AND GRAMMAR CHECKERS: It allows you to check the spelling of words and grammatical error in sentences.
Ø     FILE MANAGEMENT: Word processor allows you to create, delete, move and search for files.
Ø     WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get): With WYSIWYG, a document appears on the display screen exactly as it will look when printed.

Click on Microsoft Office




 
Then click on Microsoft office Word
